In June 1933 the Indianola Herald published a list of veterans buried in Warren County This information was gathered by the Soldiers’ Relief Commission of which John R. BARKER, W.C. SCHRIER and Frank G. ZIEKE were members. Iowa was a long ways from the Civil War battlefields, but this list clearly shows the impact of the war on Iowans. As you look through this list notice the number of Civil War Veterans compared to the other wars. Note: “World” refers to World War I
