    Lo GOODE

Lo GOODE served on the Lacona City Council in Warren County 1917 and Township Trustee for Whitebreast Township 1928-1930 and Grand Juror from Whitebreast Township 1936. (Source: Financial Report compiled by the County Auditor.)

Lo opened a sale stable in Lacona in 1908. He bought and sold horses and mules. The operation was moved to his farm south of Lacona in 1910. He was mayor of Lacona in 1946. One of the problems during his time as mayor was a confrontation with many injuries between a large crowd of Jehovah Witnesses from Des Moines holding a religious meeting in the park and a group of G.I.s. The Witnesses planned another religious meeting the following Sunday but about 400 deputized men and officers blockaded all the roads into Lacona and the Witnesses were forced to turn back to Des Moines.
