    George HALTOM

In 1918 George HALTOM bought a Lacona restaurant from Everet PARKINS. In 1921 he bought the first radio in Lacona,  an Atwater-Kent, and installed it in his restaurant. In 1928 he bought Dr. SMITH's Meat Market and in 1936 added groceries. George's slaughter house northeast of Lacona was completed in 1930. It closed in 1955 because there was no one to butcher.
