June 1, 1959, Ray HARDMAN shot and killed his daughter Grace and a neighbor boy, Don NEER in northwest Lacona. Hardman had spent time in Mental Health Institute at Clarinda and the day of the shootings had walked away from the Soldiers Home at Marshalltown.
