Dr. John William STARR
John W. STARR, son of Dr. J.S. STARR, graduates from Keokuk
College of Physicians and Surgeons. He set up a drug store in Lacona in
1882. The drug store remained in business until 1887 when he moved to
Avery, Iowa to practice medicine. In 1897 Dr. J.W. STARR’s
new two-story brick building with a bay window on the second floor was
completed. and he returned to Lacona in July and set up his practice.
In 1903 he moved to Pocahontas and set up a practice. He died there in
