    Laura DEMAREE

    Dr. Chester DEMAREE and his wife Laura moved to Lacona and set up practice in 1941. Twenty-two years later he left Lacona and moved to Des Moines. He died in 1963. Laura died in 1959.     Jerome DITTMER
    Jerome DITTMER purchased the Lacona McClurg Chapel which was being rented by the Methodist Church. He moved the chapel two miles north of town and used it as a house. It was torn down in 1920.     James DONALSON
    James DONALSON was the architect who designed McClurg Chapel in 1869. The design included Gothic doors and windows, cupola bell tower in front with an 800 pound bell, carpeted floor, 3 aisles, chandeliers and well-appointed interior costing nearly $2,800.
