The Indianola Christian Union church held its first services in August 1962, in the Arcade Room, Peoples Trust and Savings Bank, where they were organized approximately one year later.

The land at the present church site, 707 East Euclid Ave, Indianola, Iowa, was purchased March 10, 1063 by the Iowa State Christian Union Extension Board. Groundbreaking services were held at the present location of the church building in the fall of 1964. Sunday evening, the Rev. Herold McELWEE of Richmond, Missouri began a two week evangelistic crusade.

On Sunday, November 6, 1966, at 2:30 p.m., there was a dedication service of the new church building. The Rev Pearl G. SAMS of Chariton, Iowa state executive board president, was in charge. Church members presented the building to Wayne KUBLI of Milo, Iowa state extension board president and Roland HUNERDOSSE, rural Indianola, state missionary board president. They in turn, presented the building to the Rev. Wayne CAULKINS of Gilman City, Missouri for dedication.
