James HOWARD was an assistant at the Ackworth Academy which opened in 1870 and closed around 1900. He was also a trustee at the Carlisle United Methodist Church when the new building was built in 1911.
He later became became the first president of both the Iowa Farm Bureau federation and the American Farm Bureau federation.
In 1952 he was living in retirement on his farm near Clemons Iowa.
